Life’s Sanctuary

Till I turn 18 *heavy sigh* I really have no idea wether I should be jumping up and down with joy because of the fact that I’m no longer a minor or should I be sitting in a corner, crying my heart out due to the fact that I’m celebrating my 18th birthday without both my brother and sister, my friends and the people very close to my heart.

"Life comes at you fast" that’s very true indeed. I can recall the moments how I wished that I would grow up faster so I won’t have to deal with going to school but that was back when I was like in gradeschool. Right now, I just want to go back to my highschool years and stop time then. But I know that would never happen, it never does. We’re living in the real world and there’s nothing much you can do about it.

But yeah anyways, I think I’ll be fine. I still have my family here and of course some of my friends, so I think that’s better than without having anyone at all. Don’t you think so? Everything would be fine… I’m just going to make sure that I’ll have a ton of fun on my birthday which I’m sure I will.

I’ll tell you guys all about it the next time I’ll update. My plans are not decided yet so I can’t confirm it. But it’ll be so much fun! I’m so excited!

I was watching one of my favorite shows, America’s Next Top Model and it’s all too surprising that my pick, A.J, was booted out of the show! Damn you Tyra Banks! What the hell were you guys thinking?! That girl can freaking take a picture for crying out loud! Aaaargggggghhhhhhh! I’m so freaking pissed off! Why did they have to do that? She wasn’t the worst of the bunch! That other girl was! I hate this! I really do! Ugh!

A.J has like the nicest personality with a bad ass attitude! and she freaking ROCKS the Runway!

This is so sad, now I won’t be that excited everytime I watch America’s Next Top Model. Even though I have other favorites in mind, it’s just that A.J deserved to be there.

This is pathetic! Okay rant over!

Good News though… For Project Runway!

At least the pick I come up with for Project Runway always seem to win. Yey! So I’ve got both bad news and good news. Teehee! Both of my picks were Uli and Jeffrey. I loved, loved, loved Uli’s designs on the runway! It was beautiful and fun! As for Jeffrey, I so loved it too! but there was two dresses that I didn’t really like. The thing about him is he’s very innovative and I think that’s one of the most important factor of being a designer.

In the end Jeffrey won! and I’m so happy for him! even though he wasn’t all goody on the show but he’s got a soft heart too. This finale was so touching and I feel like crying… Haha! Yeah I know, it’s cheesy but it’s just so sad. It’s great that he won! So I’m pretty much okay.. Teehee! I can’t wait for the next season!

I forgot to mention.. I’ve reached my 40th post now! Yey!

Last night Katharine McPhee was on the DINA BAR-EL fashion show entitled "A Hollywood Affair".

DINA BAR-EL was the designer that desinged all of Katharine’s finale dresses during Idol and some throughout the show as well. (The dress during her performance with "I Believe I Can Fly")

Okay so I was dying to see Kat on the runway. I only hoped that she walked by herself and without the designer, lol. It’s all good though, she’s still glowing! Haha! As soon I saw the pictures I was like O-M-G! I swear I could’ve died at that precise moment. She’s so darn beautiful! I mean too beautiful and that’s like a crime! A crime I tell you!

One thing I’ve always noticed about Kat, everytime someone shoots a picture of her it’s like she’s posing for the camera but never really meant to. You get what I mean? She’s so photogenic! She always looks good no matter what! Even if she has a dorky look on her face! Seriously, she’s just too beautiful and she’s not even trying to look that beautiful! 

So what can Katharine not do really? I mean, she’s a great singer, an actress, a stand-up comedian, a producer and now a model! This girl is too damn talented! I bet you she can walk circles around Kate Moss! Heck, Kate Moss doesn’t even come this close to Katharine! Mwahaha!

Actually, Kat looks 100X better than these stick thin models now adays! She’s gorgeous and doesn’t look anorexic. (Though I’m not saying all models look anorexic, just some of them)

*sigh* This girl never ceases to amaze me! What are you gonna do next Kat? LOL! Rap? Ahahaha!

Well one thing for sure… Her Debut Album is the most anticipated Idol debut ever. Just because no one knows for sure what she’s going to do. *sigh* Great going Kat! Although I hate the teasing and I seriously can’t wait to know what it is! But yeah.. That was smart of her management to keep it in a low profile and create a much more bigger buzz. The problem now would be, there’s going to be a lot of pressure on her, because I believe that they expect her to put out a really good album… But I have faith in her, she certainly knows what she’s doing. She’s got some great people working behind her and that’s all there is to it.

It’s great being a Kat Fan. 

Yesterday was one hell of a confusing day for me. It was Sunday and we started the day right. Everything was okay and I had a lot of fun that afternoon. (We left at around noon) My dad had to work that day so he dropped both my mom and I at the Marina. There was a mall there and a cinema so it’s all good. We went  to Tower Records first because there was a ‘going out of business’ sale but we didn’t really buy anything. lol. So after that we went to the cinema and we decided to watch "Man of the Year" starring Robbie Williams. If I were to rate that movie, I’d give it a 4 star. Everything you want to see in a movie is pretty much in there, be it a Comedy, Suspense, Action and Drama. I’d recommend everyone to go and watch that movie. It’s pretty darn funny.

An hour and a half later we got out of the cinema and took a walk at the mall for a little while. I was planning on buying a shirt or a sweater for the winter season but changed my mind the moment I saw the price tags. lol. *sigh* It was hard to walk away cause there was this one shirt I really liked but I had no choice. I had to be rational. So we just decided to go to Barnes and Nobles and read some books while waiting for my dad to pick us up. I actually wanted to go to The Coffee Bean and get some coffee cause I was craving to drink some earlier, it’s quite unusual that I’m fine with drinking coffee now. I used to feel sick whenever I had one and I’d feel dizzy. But now, I’m fine with it. We didn’t get to go though, so yeah nevermind.

Finally my dad arrived. It was almost dinner so we ate at a Thai Restuarant. I love Thai Cuisine! It’s delicious! My favorite would be the seafood combination soup and their BBQ pork. Mmmmm.. But Korean Cuisine would be my number one favorite. I can never get tired of eating the same thing all over again. It’s spicy and delicious! Ooohh and I love the soybean soup or whatever they call it! I didn’t really like it in the first place but then I grew to love it. So anyways, I need to stop thinking about it now because I’m getting a little hungry. Teehee!

We picked up our uncle on the way home back in the valley and well, there was a lot of things that happened then which I am unable to share with you because of personal reasons. lol. I just kept listening on my mp3 the entire ride back..

We got home. A few hours later I also posted an entry on my blog saying how bored I was. I called my best friend and drank a cup of coffee. Then I became really really hyper and I just wanted to talk. I guess I pretty much said a lot of things that night which I shouldn’t have said. Haha! The mood kind of changed. Although I ain’t telling you what happened. All I can say is, I ended up sleeping at 5 am in the morning because I couldn’t sleep and well.. I only had about 3 hours of sleep today. And today wasn’t such a good day either. I don’t know why, somehow I was just pissed. Really pissed. But now I’m pretty okay…

I guess that’s it for now. Today was such a bad day so I’m going to call it a night.

Time: 10:16 PM

I’m in the living room staring at the computer as I type this piece of crap out. Listening to some of the songs I’ve downloaded from the internet. The artists? DisneyChannel Circle of Stars, Katharine McPhee and so many others. It’s a majority of Katharine’s songs though. Now what’s inside my mind? A lot of things. Many many things. It’s a mixture of different thoughts, be it sad, excited, nervous, etc. etc. etc.

Oh and yes, I finally decided to start reading books again. I feel like my mind is just plain blank. I can’t even write a single story. Actually I did a couple of days back when I had that sad dream. But unfortunately I didn’t get to finish writing it, yet again. So now, I need to read. Kids of today, make sure to go and read a book once in a while. Feed your mind with WORDS!

I was also browsing through the internet and went to the UCLA extension website. I was looking for some courses that I’ll take once I get the chance to. My goal for now is to take up Medical Billing and earn money from that course. It’s not really my specialty but I think I can manage it. Although I’m not so sure with the Codes and stuff. I’m confident that I’m a fast typer though and basically they need people like that. My classes are not till January though so just for fun, I enrolled at a Basic Drawing Class. I’m not good with Drawing stuff anymore, I freaking suck at it! So that’s why I’m taking a class.

Also I’ve decided what I want to do in the future. I want to be a part of the Movie Industry. I’m not going to be an actress (I hate acting for crying out loud) but I will be a part of the Production Crew. My biggest dream would be directing a movie of my own, but I know that’s impossible for me to reach. However, I would be satisfied with being a Video Editor. I’ve done a lot of Montages lately and I fairly have enough knowledge with editing videos. What’s left for me to learn is the Advanced Techniques and dealing with a rather advanced and complicated video editing program such as Final Cut Pro. I know that It’ll be hard for me to get there, but I’ll definitely try and achieve it. This is something that I’ve decided on my own. Something that I want so badly. My own Dream.

But before anything else, I need to overcome my fears. Fear of being rejected, Fear of being Alone and mostly my Fear of becoming a Failure.

These are the factors that’s holding me back from achieving my dreams. It’s going to be hard, but somehow I need to get over it. I’ll take it one step at a time…

Okay moving on… I don’t want to stick with that kind of topic. So what have I been doing lately? Well first and foremost, I’m anxiously waiting for Katharine’s Debut Album to be released! and also her Single! (It’ll come either by this week or next week) I’m so darn excited! I really don’t know what kind of album she’s making. Be it Pop, Jazz and Blues or HipHop stuff like that. She’s so versatile that she can practically do any genre and be good at it, well I don’t know about Rap or Rock though. Haha!

There’s so much happening with her right now and I’m really happy for her. I’m sure that she’ll make it big in both the music and movie industry. And maybe one day, she’ll be in broadway and finally make her dreams come true.

So I haven’t been able to update lately, that’s because I didn’t really feel like it. But anyways last weekend, my dad, uncle and I went to the theatres. We pretty much had a lot of choices. There was "The Departed" starring Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon and Leonardo DeCaprio. (I objected to this one because I hate Leonardo DeCaprio and I really don’t want to watch another Police/UnderCover piece of crap. Although I believe it’s a good movie, I just don’t feel like watching it.) A Comedy "Employee Of The Month" starring Jessica Simpson and I forgot the name of the other guy. (I really hate Jessica Simpson right now so watching one of her movies is like suicide. lol. but I didn’t really object to watching it because I love Comedies even though it’s too dumb or stupid. I just want to get a laugh out of it.) and the very last one was a horror movie "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" Starring Jordana Brewster and many others that I didn’t pay attention too. We ended up with watching this one. I actually wanted to watch this one just because Jordana Brewster was on it (I’m sure you’ll recognize her from "The Fast and The Furious") and so let the frights begin. A little information though, I really hate watching Horror movies, it scares the crap out of me! especially the ones with people trapped under the psycho’s houses and slowly kill them one by one. I wasn’t scared of the killer’s face instead I was so SCARED and DISGUSTED with the way they killed them. (Brrr… I’m having goosebumps)

And so about the movie… It all started with four people, Chrissie (Jordana Brewster), Dean (Taylor Handley), Bailey (Diora Bird), Eric (Matthew Bomer) Haha! I finally remembered all their names! Dean and Eric are brothers and they’re on their last road trip before they’re sent to serve in Vietnam with their girlfriends. (Chrissie and Bailey) But then they got into a car accident and came across a local sheriff. (Sheriff Hoyt) and led them to a secluded house. All of them except Chrissie because she was thrown off the car during the acciddent so she’s somewhere near the fields hiding. And well you all know what would happen next.

God! The movie was so freaky and disgusting! But I’m glad Jordana Brewster died the last. Haha! Although his stupid boyfriend who was in the damn army died first! Crazy huh? He was the one who died the worst! His hands were skinned and all you could see was the bones. (He was still alive, that’s the worst!) and then Chrissie was under the table when he was killed. (Just watch the movie so you’ll get what I mean) Haha! Ugh, just thinking about it makes me shiver. I swear I ain’t watching a movie like that ever! Well except for maybe one or two.. LOL! I want to see SAW III because I like jigsaw puzzles. Teehee! You can’t really blame me, it’s almost halloween so all the horror movies are out.

But yeah, after I watched this movie I was so darn scared. I could barely walk! and my dad kept teasing me! (Worst!) It’s cool though, by the time we got to the car, I listened to my mp3 player and everything was fine. Hahaha!

So thankfully no nightmares… (^^,)

11:00-12:00 Noon: Wake up call

I wake up and look around to my bed and see if I didn’t squash my dog. lol. Well he pretty much sleeps like a human being with his head rested on one of my pillows. (sosyal ano? haha!) Not only that, he pretty much occupies the entire space on my bed and he snores.

Then, I go to the kitchen and see if someone cooked breakfast. If not, then I grab a pack of noodles and cook it. (I’m so not into cooking early in the morning, well I mean early in the afternoon. haha!) But there are times that I’d cook a real breakfast like bacon and eggs, stuff like that. I don’t know if I’d still call it breakfast though… but whatever.

After eating, I’d feed my dog and replace his water with a new and clean one.

1:00-2:00 PM: Take a cold shower (If it’s the summer season) or A hot bath/shower (If it’s the fall, winter, spring season)

Well sometimes I don’t, I just don’t feel like doing anything most of the time. Tamad kung baga teehee! But if it’s a Monday or Thursday, I’d go straight to the computer and get ready for my online classes. It only takes me about an hour or so to finish it.

2:00-????: Stare at the computer all day long

After then, I’d stick to the computer all day long. First, I go to the different boards that I go to. (Idolforums, KatharineFans, AI boards) if there’s nothing new, I go and check my e-mail. (yahoo, hotmail, g-mail) I’d pretty much recieve an e-mail from my KMF buddies and telling me about some stuff that’s going on with the new project, Katpedia.com (It’s for a good cause, well mainly for Katharine, but I can get some benefits from volunteering. Like a letter of recommendation to come along with my resume later on in my life)

I’m pretty much busy with editing the concert videos for the KatsConcerts site, so that’s what I would do most of the afternoon. Oh and yeah, also doing a video montage stuff like that.

If I don’t feel like doing anything the entire day (Umm.. I mean half of the day) I’d go to one of the Fan Fiction sites and read some stories. Or if there’s no updates on the stories, I’d switch the TV on and see if there’s something good to watch.

When there’s nothing good to watch, then I pretty much do this. Update my blog with whatever I can think of. So this one is just Random. A Random Thought. Sorry, I get bored all the time.

Oh and I forgot, I also check my friendster and myspace. Haha! Like there’s something new! I mostly get on everyday with no new messages or whatever.. *heavy sigh* But I’d like to give Carol a shoutout! Heehee! Waasup? The next Kitchie Nadal! LOL! Niiicceee..

So Boring ng Life ko.. God must have spent a little less time on me. LOL! I totally understand though. (^^,) Haha! I can’t believe I said that.. I feel like an idiot today. Okay, I’m slowly drifting away from the topic now.

Anyways, what else?

That’s the Fall season schedule. I watch a lot of shows.

Then, if I have nothing to do on the computer I’d watch DisneyChannel or CSI and whatever goes on at 10 or 11 at night.

12-ish AM: Bedtime

Sometimes I stay up till 1 or 2 in the morning.

That’s pretty much what I do everyday.. after I go to sleep I start all over again. But of course, It won’t be like this forever. I can guarantee that. (^^,)

I’m officially inviting you all to my 18th Birthday Party!

Come on in and let’s get this party started! Oh crap! Sorry I forgot it’s going to be on November, so we’ll have to wait till after about a month or so. But anyways I’m going to share with you what I have planned..

*Just a tiny bit of notice: None of this is true, well I wish it was, but all of this is pure nonsense. So just bear along with me and pretend it is.

Okay first stop: The Location: I rentend this 75 Million Dollar House down in Corona Del Mar.  It has an amazing view of the ocean! (You know, I should have just bought the damn thing)

Alright, I’m going to held it outside into the pool area so that we can all have a clear view of the ocean. (I’m just hoping that it’s not going to rain)

Then on the Food: I’m gonna have all types of Cuisines.. From Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean (My Favorite), Thai and a lot more.

Cocktail drinks are available but if and only if you’re 21 years old and above. Sorry guys, that means no Cocktails for you. Don’t worry there’ll be lots of Sodas to pass around. *wink*

I don’t wanna go into details with my gown/dress. lol. I’m just not into that, let’s just proceed with my "Big Grand Entrance". There should be a stage right beside the pool and there’s going to be a runway/walkway in the pool with spotlights underneath the water, you get the picture! and of course, I invited Ryan Seacrest to be the host of my birthday party, being the generous and sweet guy that he is, he happily obliged.

So Ryan comes out and welcomes everyone to my party. First off, there would be an opening number by one of my favorite artists, the Black Eyed Peas. Woohoo! after their performance, the lights are dimmed and there’s fog coming out, covering the stage floor and the pool side.

Suddenly, you can hear someone singing.. "When all the clouds.. Darken up the skyway. " yep, Katharine McPhee comes out on stage wearing a white and silky gown. She then continues to sing the next few phrases.. "There’s a rainbow highway to be found… Free me, from your window pane. To a place behind the sun, just a step beyond the rain"

Then David Foster joins in and starts to play the first notes on the piano, with that the lights from the runway is turned on and I come out on stage singing "Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high. There’s a land that I’ve heard of once in a lullaby.."

Well you pretty much get the point of my whole grand entrance and it’s simply just a "heartfelt" duet with my most favorite artist/singer of today, Katharine McPhee. (Ha! Seriously though, if it was for real, I would’ve died instantly but in a good way of course. lol.)

Okay so after our duet, it’s down to the formalities. A video of me during my childhood years will appear in a screen, etc… also a couple of messages from my family and friends. Then I get all teary eyed half way through..

Finally, it’s time for my 18 Candles and Roses. Sorry guys, I can’t think of a list right now but you all get it.. plus, I don’t think there’s a point in making one. I really don’t want to leave any names behind, because I want each and everyone one of my friends and family to be there for me as I embark on this journey towards womanhood. (Oh geezz, drama..) Well that’s it..

After that there would be an intermission as everyone starts to eat dinner. I have all these celebrity lines up, from Christina Aguilera, James Blunt, Daniel Powter, Natasha Bedingfield, Danity Kane and so much more.

Right, soon everyone is done eating and I’m still on stage sitting in my little chair with a matching Tiara on my head. (Heehee!) Then Katharine comes out again and hugs me, greets me a happy birthday and finally dedicates her next song to me. (At that moment I’m on cloud 9 *sigh*) After her performance she hugs me again and leaves the stage.

Next would be some messages from my family and friends.. It’s your turn guys! Hahaha! When you’re all done, it’s time to get this party started! Soon the whole scenario changes from a formal party to a disco club scene.

But before that, pictures, pictures and lots pictures! :p

This pretty much sums all of it. I know it’s ridiculous but hey, a girl can dream. I’m pretty much imagining stuffs like this just so I could forget about how I can’t have my own debut. It’s sad really, at one point in my life I was planning things that I want to have on my 18th birthday, with all the cakes, the decorations and of course my friends and family all together in one room celebrating my debut. But then, everything changes and now here I am, a thousand miles away from the place I called my home for most of my life. It’s hard, but it’s life you know. So it’s either you keep hanging on to your past or just simply move on…

I’ve figure it all out.. I have my own little world now, with friends who I occassionally talk to on IM’s. Even though they’re a lot older than me, but hey at least I can to talk to someone on here and we pretty much have one thing in common, we’re all die hard Kat Fans. :p

More importantly, I’m no longer alone. I’ve accepted the fact that it’s time for me to move on and do something with my life, even if it’s just being one of those obsessive fans. (But not that obsessive) and I hope that none of you are laughing about it. Cause if I find out that you are… well who knows.

KAT PACK INTERVIEW WITH KATHARINE McPHEE - September 7, 2006

Note from the McReporters: We didn’t have a tape recorder or anything. We were just four Kat Packers who came in from all over the U.S. to meet Katharine after an AI concert in Texas (Sept. 7, 2006). At a very small venue with not a lot of other fans around, we hung out by Katharine and got a chance to know her a little bit between times when other fans approached her for autographs and things.

Katharine is everything we fans thought she would be and more. We seriously voted for the right girl. Not only is she an obviously gifted performer, but in person she is sincere, fun-loving, goofy, personable, and completely unpretentious. She is also very considerate and aware. She is a very smart lady, with social intelligence that is through the roof. Katharine makes you feel at ease. She is so unassuming and even a little shy at first. Even though you admire her so much, she doesn’t intimidate you.

Here are some things Katharine shared with us.

KAT PACK (Leah): Um, guys. Katharine is standing right there. [Haha, Katharine had come up and stood so quietly nearby that we didn’t even notice her!!! California Kat Phan, who was closest, turned toward her.]

KATHARINE: (offers handshake and says softly) Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Katharine.

[NOTE: The hardest part of the conversation was beginning because it’s hard anytime you meet someone new, and most especially when they happen to be an artist you adore. After a few bumpy introductions …]

KAT PACK: Here are some gifts Leah brought for you.

(We all look over at the big, beautifully wrapped gift box Leah had brought. There is a pause.)

KATHARINE: (looks at us) Would you like me to open them here?

KAT PACK: Yes! We want to open up all of your fan presents with you!

As Katharine opens the box and begins to reach in for presents, her security guard (who obviously adores Katharine) gives Katharine a stern glance as if to say, “You know I’m supposed to open those for you.” Katharine happily opens about three presents, saying things like, “Ooo, this will be perfect for when I get my new place,” and “awww, these would be so cute for a little backyard barbecue.” She opens up a tube of lotion, smells it, and rubs some lotion on her hands. She notices a couple of DVDs that she says Kellie will love. Then she looks at the security guard, grins, and says, “See? I didn’t even explode!”

KAT PACK: What happens to the gifts that you get from your fans?

KATHARINE: They go into the back of the bus. And sometimes we ship them home.

KAT PACK: Do you like to cook?

KATHARINE: I LOVE to cook!

KAT PACK: (pointing to a picture of Katharine kissing her goddaughter on the head) What is your beautiful goddaughter’s name?

KATHARINE: (looks at the picture, looks again, and totally lights up at mention of her goddaughter – she ADORES her little goddaughter)

We call her ‘Charlie’ but her real name is Charlotte. I get to see her a lot, but was sad that I didn’t get to see her when I was in Los Angeles [for the homecoming concert].

KAT PACK: Kat or Katharine?

KATHARINE: You can call me either one.

KATHARINE: I read that some fans were upset that I went to Taylor’s concert after the show the other night. Please tell them that I was invited and that it was fun!

KAT PACK: Will do.

KAT PACK: Andrea Bocelli

Katharine talked about how Bocelli is this tall, dignified, amazing singer… and that we’d be surprised to hear that he likes to kid around. He’d do things like…[at this, Katharine startles all of us by busting out into amazing full voice and singing the two words “Somos Novios”] but then she said that instead of singing those words, sometimes Bocelli would kid around by totally changing the words around to say something completely shocking. It was very funny.

KAT PACK (gecko2gecko): You’re wearing the flip flops the Brazilian fans gave you!

KAT PACK (Vadia): They were so excited to hear that you were wearing their flip flops!

KATHARINE: (surprised and smiling) Really? How did they know?

KAT PACK: Lots of people take pictures of you, Kat. There were pictures of you wearing them after one of your concerts.

KATHARINE: (about the flip flops) I love them! I wear them ALL the time! (And to prove it, Kat removes her flip flops and holds them out for everyone to see the wear stains. Kat notices things, is super aware. She mentions how the left flip flop is a little less worn because she had been wearing her boot!)

KAT PACK: [NOTE: Anyone who thinks Kat is distracted from making her album right now by movies is dead wrong.] Kat’s solo album

Katharine got very, very excited and serious when discussing her solo album. She says she is working hard with a group of excellent people on making an album that will sell. She said it won’t be a Celine kind of album. She also said that the album will not be along the lines of My Destiny, which — though she really liked how it turned out on the CD — she and the people she is working with felt was a bit countryish and not the direction they’re headed.

She seemed a little bummed about getting behind on making the album by being sidelined with vocal problems just after idol.

Katharine went on to talk about her vocal health issues right after AI. She said that had a burst a vein in her vocal cords…

KATHARINE: It happened right before I performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

KAT PACK: The second time?

KATHARINE: (leans in, eyes wide) The FIRST time!

…the first time! Apparently, to get her through, doctors shot her throat with cortisone, which brought down the inflammation, but she said the injury was still there. Bocelli later expressed concern, saying he worried about her vocal health.

KATHARINE: (A young girl comes up and asks Katharine to autograph the palm of her hand.) “Right here?” The girl shyly nods and Katharine says very sweetly: “Okay, but it may not last long.” When she is done signing, Katharine holds out her right hand and says, “Look, I like to write on my hands, too!” Indeed, there is a small heart drawn in permanent marker in the middle of her right palm. It is a little faded so Kat redraws it right there. Katharine is so light-hearted and fun. She says, “I like to draw on myself when I’m bored!” and demonstrates by making dashes (in permanent marker) on the back of her hand!

KAT PACK [Leah]: JC Penney Jam

Katharine talked about how her JC Penney Jam performance happened on the same night as her morning performance at the cruise ship christening in New York (Of course we all remembered that coast-to-coast marathon!) She said that the ship christening performance thing was a bit awkward, like maybe she was a little out of place. Also, it was very early in the morning (50 AM California time) and she knew her voice didn’t sound as good as she would have liked. She said that her plane from NY arrived in L.A. RIGHT as the JC Penney Jam was starting! There had not been time for her to do a dress rehearsal or anything, so it was like all of a sudden she was walking down this giant staircase in a big dress, like that just really blew her mind. She shared that she wanted to do something completely different with SOTR that night than she had done on AI. Also, she said that she felt her voice was weak during Somos Novios. Of course, we all wholeheartedly disagreed!

KAT PACK INTERVIEW (part 2)

KAT PACK: Everyone and their Soul Patrol brother LOVED you in your JC Jam performances.

KATHARINE: (mixture of joy and surprise) Really?!

KAT PACK: The L.A. Homecoming concert

Katharine was thankful for the homecoming concert shirts we gave her, including one with all of the homecoming volunteers’ names written on it. Wrapped inside were two glowsticks. Katharine brought them out and said…

KATHARINE: I saw those at the concert!

KAT PACK: Really? Did you notice them?

KATHARINE: Totally! There were a LOT of them!

For the remainder of the conversation Katharine held the glowsticks. As animated as she is with her hands, of course the glowsticks moved with her. At one point she was talking and playing with the glowsticks and suddenly we hear a small “crack.” Katharine looks a surprised (think Coca Cola moment), laughs, holds up the glowstick, and says…

KATHARINE: (big eyes and a grin) Oh! It’s glowing!
