The Day I Turned 18

When I woke up that morning, I didn’t feel like it was in fact my 18th birthday. For me it was just like any other day, the only difference is that I’ll be getting lots of gifts and greetings from my family and friends. (It’s why I love birthdays! LOL!) But it’s not like I’m complaining or anything. In fact, I was happy. Both my mom and dad greeted me at the struck of midnight. And I have to say, It was so obvious that they were on to something that night. Haha! I was on the computer at around 11:30 pm or something and then they both woke up and got out of the room. I kept wondering why it took them so long to get back inside and so that’s when I realized that they’re going to greet me now.

And so I turned the computer off and climbed up to bed. It’s not like I did it on purpose though, I was sleepy as hell! After a couple of minutes, the door opened and they sang ‘Happy Birthday’. My dad was holding a small cake with lit candles and my mom brought a wine glass and my favorite brand of ‘Vanilla Cream’ drink (I would have preferred a Root Beer though, but whatever)

I would’ve cried at that precise moment but I didn’t want to. I didn’t want to cry and ruin the moment. Instead I smiled and just took it in. I wanted to remember this moment for the rest of my life. It wasn’t sort of spectacular but it was something SPECIAL for me. The only thing missing in that almost ‘picture perfect’ portrait was having both my brother and sister in it.

The next day, I mean that morning we were heading to this place called "The Castle" a Korean BBQ restaurant together with my mom, dad, great grandmother and great grandfather. But before that we dropped by at the church and bid our prayers. After that we took some pictures as a little remembrance and headed to my favorite restaurant.

After that we just drove around the city and ummmm I forgot where we went. But whatever, I’m contented after eating Korean BBQ. (^^,) Oh I think we bought some ingredients for my party on Saturday.

Anyways if you’re wondering what I really did to celebrate my birthday then okay I’ll tell you. Last thursday (The week before my birthday) I went over to Sam’s house and had a sleepover at their place. It was fun hanging out with Sam and her sisters and brother and cousin. Lol.

We went out and watched a movie called "Running with Scissors" It was a memoir of a certain author and it was supposed to be a comedy. The movie was weird, like so weird. There were some parts that were funny but after that it’ll be weird again. I didn’t get the movie at all. Haha!

So anyways, despite the weird movie, I still had a ton of fun.

My 18th birthday wasn’t all that grand and spectacular but I am contented. In fact there’s no need for it. As long as my Family and Friends are with me, then that’s good enough.

I’m happy. So happy.
