New Idol

Vmagazine2 Sasha Cohen 2006 US Champion

Paris Hilton, Alexis Bledel, Avril Lavigne… This were my fromer idols and usually they’re all into movies and music but not this time. One day as I was searching through the channels I saw a figure skating competition, i’m not really a fan of figure skating but i do like to watch it sometimes. At first the only persons I knew in figure skating was 5 time world champion Michelle Kwan and Olympian champion Kritsti Yamaguchi and Sarah Hughes but when I saw this particular competition one person stood out. She’s a 4 time US silver medallist, the reigning world silver medallist and was 4th place during the 2002 winter olympics. For the past 5 years she’s been trying to take away the gold from Michelle Kwan and believe me she does have what it takes to beat her but everytime she’s in the position where all she really need to do is to just bring it on she starts doubting about her capabilities and that leads her to stumble and fall. But even though she’s second best in the world, she’s still one hell of a skater. Sasha Cohen is an exquisite skater, she definitely has it all, the talent, the skills, the charms, the elegance and the perfect body lines. Her real name is Alexandra Cohen, she was born in Ukraine and was raised in the US. At first she started as a gymnasts then by the age of seven she began skating and fell in love with it instantly. By the time she was sixteen or seventeen she got into the 2002 winter olympics and drew a lot of attention during the opening ceremonies as she handed her cellphone to President Bush. But not only that, Sasha is known for her artistic programs, perfect body positions, exquisite spins and amazing extensions.

Now during the 2006 US Championships she finally won the gold medal but it wasn’t really a challenge for her since Michelle Kwan was not able to enter the competition due to an injury. The three winners, Sasha Cohen, Kimmy Meissner and Emily Hughes were granted spots for the upcoming winter olympics in Torino, Italy. Unfortunately for Emily Hughes her spot was taken by Michelle Kwan who petitioned for the olympics and was granted by the US figure skating association.

I’m really excited in the upcoming olympics, I really want to see who have what it takes to be the next Olympian Champion. I do hope that Sasha does her best and I’m really looking forward to watching her skate. God! I just can’t believe how obsessed I can be with this figure skating thing! I don’t even skate! But I will try this next weekend, I’ve invited Sam to go to downtown Los Angeles and go ice skating. And by the way did I mention I wrote a story about figure skating (I was inspired and besides I didn’t have anything else to do) then I also looked through the internet about where the next olympics will be held or the next US championships. But the price was too high, I was so desperate to find a ticket so that I could finally see Sasha Cohen in person and luckily there would be a olympic tour called champions on the ice and they’ll be performing here in Los Angeles by August. I’m so excited! I’m just waiting to buy the ticktets this February 9 and make my reservations, then i’ll be counting down the days till I would finally meet her.
